You can adjust the level of spice in this paneer tikka recipe as per your preference. It is best enjoyed with naan or butter roti, however, when prepared at home you can eat it with plain roti as well. To prepare this flavourful paneer recipe, it is suggested to marinate the paneer well in advance. The marination of paneer will enhance the flavour of the dish.

Traditionally, this paneer recipe is grilled and then pan-fried; however, this version of Paneer Tikka Masala is prepared using a microwave. Ingredients to make Palak Paneer

250 gm paneer
salt as required
1 inch ginger
1 teaspoon cashews
1 tablespoon gram flour (besan)
1/2 cup yoghurt (curd)
1 teaspoon poppy seeds
6 peppercorns
1 drop edible food color
1/2 cup chopped onion
6 pieces garlic
1 cup tomato puree
4 tablespoon refined oil
1 tablespoon cumin seeds
6 red chilli

For Marination

1/2 teaspoon ginger paste
1 teaspoon lime juice
1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic paste
1/2 teaspoon chaat masala

For Garnishing

1/2 cup chopped coriander leaves
1/4 cup fresh cream

How to make Palak Paneer Recipe

Step 1 Marinate the paneer pieces

To prepare this awesome paneer recipe, the very first step is to prepare the Paneer Tikka and for that, you need to prepare a marination mixture. Start by mixing the ginger paste, garlic paste, chat masala, lime juice, cumin powder and salt. Let it rest for a minute and coat the cubed paneer pieces with the mixture and let them marinate for about 30 minutes.

Step 2 Bake the marinated paneer and fry onions

Then, place the marinated paneer pieces in a skewer and bake them at 200 degree Celsius for about 10 minutes. Paneer Tikka is ready and you can keep it aside in a bowl. Now, to prepare the gravy, heat 2 tablespoons of oil and fry the onion till they turn brown and translucent. When the onions are done, keep aside and let them cool.

Step 3 Prepare the gravy

Now, add fried onions, ginger, garlic, cashew nuts, cumin, poppy seeds, dry red chillies and peppercorn in the grinder and grind them into a smooth thick paste. Take a pan and heat it on low-medium flame, heat 4 tablespoons of oil and stir-fry the finely ground mixture till it turns brown and then add gram flour. Roast the flour for a minute and then add the curd and cook it for about 5 minutes.

Step 4 Add tomato puree & let the gravy thicken

Now, add tomato puree and cook till the puree dries up. Then add 3 cups of hot water and a pinch of red edible food colour. Mix them all together and let the gravy cook for about 2-4 minutes. When it’s cooked, simmer for another minute and then reduce the flame.

Step 5 Add the baked paneer to the gravy

For preparing the Palak Paneer Recipe, add the baked paneer tikka in the gravy and cook it till the gravy is thick enough. When your paneer dish is cooked, switch off the burner. Empty this sumptuous dish into a large serving bowl and garnish with coriander leaves and cream. And serve this rich creamy recipe with your choice of Indian bread or steamed rice.

Tips

Homemade paneer works best for this recipe. You can also use store-bought paneer. Just soak it in warm water for 15-20 minutes.
You can skip the food colour in this recipe or use Kashmiri red chilli powder.
