India Covid Updates, 51,667 New Covid Cases. India’s Covid chart continued to show improvement today, with the country recording 51,667 cases, a marginal drop from yesterday’s 54,069 figure.The country’s overall caseload now stands at 3.01 crore while total fatalities are at 3.93 lakh.

India’s test positivity rate (positive cases identified for every 100 tests) continues to decline. For the 18th straight day, it is below the 5 per cent-mark at 2.98 per cent. Active cases have decreased by 14,189 in the last 24 hours to take the tally to 6,12,868. Recoveries have been outnumbering the daily new cases for the 43rd consecutive day now.
Kerala contributed 12,078 cases to the country’s daily numbers. It was followed by Maharashtra (9,844 cases) and Tamil Nadu (6,162 cases).

Over two crore doses have been administered in the first 72 hours of the implementation of the newly revised guidelines of the National COVID-19 vaccination programme, the Health Ministry said. Over 30.79 crore vaccine doses administered since the start of the massive nationwide vaccination drive in January.

More than 1.89 crore balance and unutilised COVID-19 vaccine doses are still available with the states and Union territories, according to the government. Only four per cent of India’s population has been administered vaccine doses so far, according to a Bloomberg report.

At least seven cases of the new Delta Plus variant of Coronavirus have been confirmed in Madhya Pradesh, two of the patients have died. Doctors said they had not received any vaccination.
Madhya Pradesh is one of the three states where the AY.1 or Delta Plus strain — a mutation of the Delta strain which drove the second wave of the virus in the country – have been found. The other two states are Kerala and Maharashtra. One case of Delta-Plus virus has also been detected in Jammu and Kashmir.


Covid and its aftermath have shown the resilience of the Indian economy, Finance Minister Niramla Sitharaman said at the Global Investors Roundtable organized by the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum on Thursday.

India’s COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19. India crossed the grim milestone of 2 crore on May 4.
